Career and Technical Education programs are designed to prepare students for the world of work. To that end, Johns Creek High School provides students challenging courses to provide them the skills needed to succeed in a variety of careers. We offer courses in the areas of Architecture, Business, Engineering, Information Technology, Sports and Entertainment Marketing and Media Production. Students have the opportunity to take these courses during all four years of their high school career. DEPARTMENT CHAIR

Steve Sweigart earned his Bachelor's degree in Technology Education from Auburn University and his Master's and Specialist degrees from Walden University. He is currently working on his Doctoral degree in Teacher Leadership through Walden University. Steve has been in Fulton County since 1999. He has served as the Diversified Technology teacher at Webb Bridge Middle School, the Diversified Technology and Drafting teacher at Milton High School and the Engineering and Architecture teacher at Alpharetta High School. Before coming to Fulton County, Steve was the Diversified Technology and Drafting Teacher at Rockdale County High School. Steve is the Career Technology department chair and also coaches Golf at Johns Creek High School. He resides in Roswell with his wife Jennifer, daughter Callen (8), and son Luke (5).

Jamie Chuven has taught Broadcast / Video (Television) Production since 1992. He spent his first five years teaching at Mainland High School in Daytona Beach, Florida before relocating to Atlanta. In Georgia, he started the Broadcast / Video Production Department at Centennial High School in 1997 and spent the next four years building it into a model program for Fulton County. After taking a brief hiatus, he returned to Centennial High School to finish out the school year as the Diversified Technology Instructor. During this time, he was designing the Northview High School lab as the first all-digital TV studio in Fulton County Schools. Mr. Chuven has also worked in various broadcasting capacities for several professional sports teams, such as the Orlando Predators (Arena Football League), the Orlando Magic (National Basketball Association), the Daytona Beach Sun Devils (Sunshine Professional Hockey League), and the Georgia Force (Arena Football League). Mr. Chuven has also produced the Florida Junior Miss Scholarship Program video and the Georgia Junior Miss Scholarship Program week-in-review video and program video for nine years. His production of "Legends Car Racing" was broadcast in 1998 on the Turner Broadcasting System program, "Interact America." Mr. Chuven received his degree in Radio/Television Production from the University of Central Florida in Orlando, Florida. He has also completed post-graduate courses at Georgia State University in Education. Mr. Chuven is active in the ongoing process of creating curriculum for Fulton County Schools and the Georgia Department of Education. He was named the Inaugural "Teacher of the Year" for Northview High School during the 2002-2003 school year. During the 2008-2009 school year he was recognized as the outstanding BVP teacher in Fulton County.

Intervention Specialist

As a native of Atlanta, Mrs. Davis-Conte has devoted over 20 years to educating students with disabilities in the Fulton County school system. She is currently the Career and Technical Intervention Coordinator and department chair of Special Education whose experience ranges from teaching self-contained behavior disorders in middle school, team teaching Language Arts in high school, to chairing the special education department at Centennial High School for over 12 years. The master at efficiency, Davis-Conte not only enjoys the challenges of cultivating a solid team, but encourages students with disabilities by offering guidance, encouragement, and intervention in the career and technical classes. With two undergraduate degrees in psychology and secondary education and a specialist's degree in special education from Georgia State University, she has always supported higher education to those that surround her. Mrs. Davis-Conte and her husband currently reside in Roswell.

Ham, Kristin
Business/IT

Kristin Ham is the Business IT Teacher of the CTE Business Program at JCHS. She is also the current Advisor of the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA). Kristin received her Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from the University of Kentucky. Kristin also received her Master's Degree in Business Administration from the Keller Graduate School. She most recently graduated from Thomas More College, receiving a Master's Degree in the Art of Teaching. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family, and also participating in fitness related activities, such as running and biking.

Business/Marketing

After owning and operating his own businesses, for over 20 years, Mr. Martin began his teaching career in 2007. He has had experience in both the retail and industrial markets and is currently teaching Marketing Principles, Introduction to Sports & Entertainment Marketing, and Advanced Sports & Entertainment Marketing. Mr. Martin uses his practical business experiences to help the students connect the course content to the real world. As a part of the marketing program, Mr. Martin also oversees the day-to-day operations of the student-run school store, known as The Forum @ JCHS. A graduate of Valdosta State University, he lives in Roswell with his wife and two children.

Weber, Teri
Business/Comp. Sci

Teri Weber teaches Business Education and Computer Science courses here at Johns Creek High School. She received her undergraduate degree in Home Economics Education from Louisiana Tech University. She went on to get her Masters of Business Administration from University of Louisiana at Monroe. She spent the earlier part of her career in corporate America, moving on to owning her own Professional Organizing business. She moved from organizing back to her teaching roots in 2004 as a teacher at Taylor Road Middle School. After a brief period back in the business world, she joins Johns Creek High School teaching Business Essentials, Computing in the Modern World, and Intro to Animation. She enjoys relating her experience in the corporate world to students throughout the curriculum. She is an FBLA co-sponsor this year. She lives in Alpharetta with her husband, two children, and two beagles.
